Seattle Passport Agency
The Seattle Passport Agency has an automated
telephone appointment system for its customers who are
traveling
within 14 calendar days or who are pressed for time because they
require foreign visas. The Seattle Passport Agency, located in the
Jackson Federal Building, 915 2 d Ave, Room 992, Seattle, Washington, will be open by
appointment only, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding Federal
holidays. Customers may schedule an appointment by
calling 206-808-5700. The automated appointment system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week.
Passport applications accepted at the Seattle Passport Agency for customers traveling
within 14 days will be mailed out in 3 business days from the day of the appointment.
Customers traveling abroad within 72 hours will only be issued passports for same-day pick
up if they have an appointment scheduled before 11:00 AM. When customers arrive at the
Seattle Passport Agency, they will go to an information window to have their appointment
verified, documents checked, and be issued a numbered ticket. To apply for a passport,
customers must complete a
passport
application and present:
1. Evidence of their U.S. citizenship (such as a birth certificate
issued by their state of birth, a previous U.S. passport, or a naturalization
certificate),
2. Valid identification (such as a driver's license),
3. Proof of immediate travel (airline ticket, airline-generated itinerary, or a travel
letter from an employer for business travel),
4. Two identical photographs, and
5. The appropriate fees -- the regular passport fee ($60 adults, $40 minors) and the $35
expedite fee.
Applications without acceptable documentation and fees cannot be processed. Customers are
advised not to arrive more than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time. Late
arrivals will have to reschedule their appointments.
Citizens who are not traveling within 14 calendar days must
apply at one of the designated post offices, clerks of court, or municipal offices
authorized to accept passport applications. These customers will receive their passports
in the mail within six weeks. The downtown Seattle location is King County Courthouse 516 3rd Ave Rm E-327 Seattle, WA 98104.
Expedited service is also available for an additional $35
fee to ensure processing of the passport within two weeks.
A list of the most convenient locations of more than 4,000 nationwide
passport acceptance facilities may
be accessed.
This site also has information on first time
application
requirements and passport
application downloading. Another option for information, forms, or to check the status
of a pending application is the National Passport Information Center at 1-900-225-5674 or
1-888-362-8668 (with a major credit card).
Customers who are renewing a
passport may be eligible to apply through the mail and avoid a trip to the Passport
Agency. To use the mail-in form, customers must have had a previous U.S. passport issued
within the past 12 years and after their 16th birthday. They should obtain form
DSP-82 "Application for Passport by
Mail" and follow the instructions on the form. Customers should expect to receive
their passports by mail within 25 business, or they may request expedited service for a
fee of $35 to receive it sooner.
